Reporting diversity, equity and inclusion metrics within the GDPR

Does a diverse and inclusive workforce make a difference? As the data is often sensitive, how can an organisation collect and report on the metrics while complying with the GDPR? Merrill Dresner reports.

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) aims at creating a balanced, harmonious, equitable and productive atmosphere by including people of different genders, ethnic groups, skin colour and beliefs in the workforce. It is likely to lead to mutual respect for individuality and create an environment of psychological safety.

Management consultancy McKinsey expresses this idea as follows: “… diverse organizations are more successful at attracting and retaining talent, making high-quality decisions, and pursuing successful innovation. But the value of diversity is only fully captured when an organization is equitable and inclusive….”(1)
