It’s not widely known, but the UK is a global leader in Safety Tech. Broadly speaking, the Safety Tech industry comprises technology companies that provide tools and services that enable a safer online experience, and protect users from harmful content, contact or conduct. The development of Safety Tech is mostly driven by the increasing concern that the online world can reflect and magnify the dangers of the offline world. The UK Government committed to foster and encourage Safety Tech solutions as part of the Online Harms White Paper (2019-2020)(1). While still a comparatively young sector, interest and investment in Safety Tech has expanded considerably in recent years.
