The ICO’s Data Protection Practitioners’ Conference 2021
The ICO is preparing its own SCCs and helps the DCMS in determining priority countries for the UK’s adequacy assessments. By Laura Linkomies.
The ICO’s Data Protection Practitioners Conference 2021 was organised online on 5 May. Elizabeth Denham, Information Commissioner welcomed the audience by saying that privacy is now mainstream. “Those of you who have been in the profession for a little while will recognise that people are finally interested in what we do – saying you’re a data protection regulator isn’t the conversation killer it once was.”
She explained the importance of trust in the use of Covid-status certification schemes and stressed they will only work if the public can see that their personal data is being used responsibly.
