Additional security risks arising from home working
Camilla Winlo of DQM GRC discusses the extra measures companies may want to adopt in light of the Covid-19 situation and the ICO’s new regulatory approach.
Home working is hardly new, but Covid-19 has increased both the prevalence of home working and the attention given to it as a working practice.
One of the many interesting aspects of the sudden imperative to work from home is that it has become clear that many existing remote working policies have not coped with the sudden shift to mass home working. Despite the fact that, for many organisations, working from home is an expected aspect of business continuity planning, remote working policies have not tended to be written in a way that supports the business to quickly mobilise a remote workforce for an extended period.
