GDPR: Much Ado About Nothing
Efforts to improve EU GDPR cross-border consistency are ongoing but other issues also need further attention. Laura Linkomies reports on recent work and criticisms.
The EU Commission is due this summer to publish its second evaluation report on how the GDPR is functioning, Karolina Mojzesowicz, Deputy Head, Data Protection Unit, EU Commission, told PL&B’s conference on 2 July. The report is due every four years to the European Parliament and to the Council as specified by the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Commission consulted widely before drafting the report. The report will address the application of the GDPR and the functioning of international transfers, as well as the evaluation of the cooperation and consistency mechanism between national Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), Mojzesowicz said.
