Abu Dhabi consults on data protection

Abu Dhabi is currently consulting on its new data protection regime. Its financial services free zone has had a data protection regime in place since 2015. The new regulations are intended to align the law with the EU GDPR.

The new regulations, which include a 12-month transition period, would replace the existing regulations. The deadline for providing comments was set at 19 December 2020.
