Poland's significant GDPR fines and data breaches



Poland’s Data Protection Authority, UODO, has issued, since 25 May 2018, GDPR fines totalling €1.7 million.

According to a DLA Piper survey, the top jurisdictions for total GDPR fines are Italy (€69.3 million), Germany (€69 million) and France (€54 million).

Poland was high up in the statistics for the total number of personal data breaches notified per jurisdiction for the period from 25 May 2018 to 27 January 2021. Poland ranked 6th with 16,000 notifications after Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Ireland. This trend is up; just looking at numbers for the past year, Poland was the 4th highest with 8,600 notified breaches.
