Gamification enhances data protection training

Ralph O’Brien of Serious Privacy says that games can be a very useful tool in your arsenal of data protection training tools as they provide real-life scenarios.

I love a good game! But sadly, traditionally data protection training has relied on formal instruction, policy documentation, and compliance-driven learning tools. E-learning tools especially have shown time and time again that whilst they deliver “tick box” compliance, they do not actually deliver anything more than a basic level of awareness to staff annually. Hardly an effective approach to data decision making. Traditional approaches are useful in communicating legal requirements and organisational obligations but often fall short in developing the practical judgment required to navigate the increasingly complex landscape of data governance.
