Google’s Privacy Sandbox – a change in direction

Third-party cookies (TPCs) are tracking technologies that you are likely to encounter every day while browsing through the Internet. They are a form of technology (cookies) set by online services other than the one you are visiting. They are primarily used to track an individual’s use of websites, allowing third party advertising companies to use a range of data such as which details of which web pages were viewed by a user, in which order, and what content was interacted with, to display more relevant advertisements to the specific individual. In everyday life, this can lead to a commonly experienced déjà vu when you click on an advert once, and then see that product appearing repeatedly while you browse the Internet over the next few weeks.
