Children’s privacy advocate: Information governance is still weak in the education sector
Claire Archibald’s extensive work on children’s privacy issues has been recognised by the PICCASO Champion of the Year award. By Laura Linkomies.
Winning the PICCASO Champion of the Year award in late 2024 is a recognition for Claire Archibald’s work in data protection and particularly for her focus on children’s privacy, a long time before it became a buzz word.
PICCASO Awards Europe described the necessary attributes for the award as a “person who is always looking out for the interests of the everyday individual, making sure that customer and employee data are protected while supporting trusted data use and innovation.”
Claire Archibald, Legal Director at Browne Jacobson said that she was given the award for championing the importance of data protection in education and children’s privacy, and championing and supporting school staff to better understand data protection and how schools’ data processing affects children.
