Cayman Islands DP law now in force

The Cayman Islands’ Data Protection Act, adopted on 27 March 2017, entered into force 30 September. The law is enforced by an Ombudsman, and is based on eight data protection principles; Fair and Lawfulness Use, Purpose Limitation, Data Minimization, Data Accuracy, ­Storage Limitation, Respect for the ­Individual’s rights, Security – Integrity and Confidentiality, and International Transfers.
