UK’s EU adequacy looks to continue

The European Commission’s spokesperson has today confirmed to PL&B that:

“Following the EDPB opinion in October and the green light by Member States in comitology procedure last week, the Commission is now finalising preparations with a view to having the new adequacy decisions in place before the end of the month.”

The European Commission is expected to extend the UK’s adequacy under both the GDPR and the Law Enforcement Directive (LED) for six years to 27 December 2031.
