1. Consultation on private sector audits and more

The Ministry of Justice is currently consulting on how the Information Commissioner’s powers should be strengthened. The consultation, launched on 17 July, builds on the report recently published by Dr Mark Walport and the Information Commissioner, Richard Thomas (PL&B UK Newsletter August 2008 p.1).

Views are sought, for example, on the proposed private sector audit power, the ICO’s funding, and promoting good practice.

The consultation closes on 27 August 2008.
