Luxembourg fines Amazon 746m Euros

Luxembourg’s Data Protection Authority has fined Amazon.com Inc €746 million for GDPR breaches. The DPA fine, issued on 16 July, was disclosed in Amazon’s regulatory filings to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Amazon will appeal the fine. This is the highest GDPR fine on any company in the EU so far. The company, which has its European headquarters in Luxembourg, says that the decision is “without merit.”

The DPA has not published the decision on its website and typically does not comment on individual cases.
