ICO issues draft corporate strategy for consultation
The ICO’s draft corporate strategy presents the purpose, strategic outcomes, regulatory and transformation priorities for the new Information Commission. The ICO states that it will prioritise children’s data, AI, public sector data use, and cyber resilience.
The draft strategy, signed by Paul Arnold, Chief Executive Officer at the ICO, covers a two-year period from 2026 to 2028. The present Information Commissioner's Office will soon be transitioned to Information Commission governance model as per the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Recruitment for the new Chair of the Commission is due to start in the next few days, and it is expected that the new Information Commission (with seven non-executive directors) will be in place in the autumn of this year.
The consultation is open until the end of 23 August 2026.
