ICO consults on changes to notification system
Despite the fact that the EU DP draft Regulation proposes to abolish notification, the ICO intends to quickly improve its register of data controllers. The ICO says that it wishes to make it easier for those who need to notify and to make the public register itself more accessible.
The ICO proposes:
- changes to the format of the public register
- an online and telephone payment service for controllers
- to include details of a contact person in an organisation the public could approach for the purpose of requesting information.
Comments are sought by 30 November. The ICO aims to publish a summary of consultation responses and its reaction by the end of January 2013.
