EU issues Reasoned Opinion on Slovenia for failure to implement the GDPR

The European Commission issued, on 15 July, a Reasoned Opinion on Slovenia for failing to reform its existing data protection framework to follow the GDPR.

The Commission sent a formal letter in February this year asking Slovenia to adapt its national data protection framework, including the rules on its Data Protection Authority.

Slovenia's response was not sufficient, the Commission says. Slovenia now has two months to reply to the Commission's reasoned opinion. If the reply is not satisfactory, the Commission may bring this matter before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Slovenia is the only EU country that has not yet adopted a GDPR implementation law.
