Data Protection by Design Award entry date extended to 30 March

The Catalan Data Protection Authority (DPA) has extended the entry date to 30th March for the 5th edition of its DataProtection by Design Award with 5,000 and 2,000 euros money prizes and marketing opportunities.

Àngels Barbarà i Fondevila, Catalan DPA Director, says: “The awards will showcase applications or systems that improve the implementation of security measures, facilitate compliance with legal obligations in the field of data protection, strengthen people’s control over their own information and, in general, make the management of privacy easier.”

Data protection by design and data protection by default applications will be rated according to seven specified criteria, such as innovation, “security by default” and social impact.

The prize of public recognition: There are three money prizes but all applicants are listed publicly at the award ceremony. As a result, all applicants receive valuable publicity as a result of entering this competition, providing a substantial incentive.

Applications may be sent by 30 March by any person, group, organisation or company from any country in any of the following languages: Catalan, Spanish, English or French - http://apdcat.gencat.cat/en/actualitat/premi/2017-/index.html
