Consultation on model publication scheme
The ICO has launched a consultation on the revision of its model publication scheme, under sections 19 and 20 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The consultation seeks views on the current publication scheme requirements, and changes to it. How should publication schemes evolve in the light of web 2.0? Is the current approach of one model scheme and sector based guidance appropriate?
The ICO is also keen to hear what further information public authorities could proactively publish. Other issues include re-use of information published in publication schemes, and the new definition of dataset, as per proposals in the Protection of Freedoms Bill.
The ICO proposes that central and local government update the definition documents by March 2012, and other parts of the public sector by July 2012.
The consultation closes 21 December 2011.
