Government to ban social media for under 16s

Backed by a public consultation where nine out of ten parents said they would like to see social media banned for under 16s, the government has now announced its policy which follows the model from Australia. The banned platforms will include Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook and X, but not messaging services such as WhatsApp and Signal.
