Oregon adopts a data protection law
On 22 June, the US state of Oregon passed the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, S.B. 619 and it was signed into law on 18 July. The law will be in force from 1 July 2024.
The bill was developed over the last four years by the Attorney General’s Consumer Privacy Task Force, created to answer the call for comprehensive consumer privacy legislation.
