Korea’s amended information protection laws will enter into force on 5th August



On 9 January 2020, amendments to South Korea’s three major data privacy laws:

  • the Personal Information Protection Act;
  • the Act on the Promotion of Information and the Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection; and
  • the Credit Information Use and Protection Act

were passed at a plenary session of the National Assembly of Korea.

On 4 February these three amendments bills were promulgated and will enter into force on 5 August 2020.
