Privacy Networks
Privacy Laws & Business provides the secretariat for the Privacy Networks which complement the firm’s newsletters and events. The Privacy Networks give Privacy Managers an opportunity to meet their specific peer group regularly and exchange views on matters of common interest in a confidential environment. Members hold discussions and exchange insights and experience which provide solutions to common problems facing them. Meetings are usually hosted by a group member.
The first of these groups to be established was the European Privacy Officers Network (EPON) in 2001. The annual membership fee covers three meetings a year in different European countries. Some meetings are roundtables with national Data Protection Commissioners while others are private discussions among group members.
Using a similar setup to EPON, in 2005 Privacy Laws & Business established the International Privacy Officers Network (IPON), with meetings covering jurisdictions outside of Europe.
The Children's Privacy Protection Network (CPPN) was also established in 2005. The CPPN concept was developed in consultation with several multinational companies in response to an expressed need for a forum in which Senior Privacy Officers and in-house lawyers with children's data protection compliance responsibilities can meet to discuss matters relating to children's privacy protection.
Any organisation or sector which is interested in establishing a new Privacy Network should contact Glenn Daif-Burns.
