Stewart has written and researched extensively on data protection/privacy and freedom of information since 1976, when he initiated a research project on this subject at the UK Consumers' Association. He started publishing Privacy Laws & Business Newsletter in 1987, and its related international data protection information service has now grown to include consulting, conferences, research, in-house presentations and documentation. He was a founder and first Chairman of the UK's Data Protection Forum. Stewart has spoken at data protection/privacy conferences in Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Israel, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.

Glenn joined Privacy Laws & Business in November 2003. He is responsible for managing the:

He graduated in 1997 from Lincolnshire and Humberside University with a BA Hons in Media Production. Glenn has several years’ management and coordination experience with previous companies including Accenture and TMP/Hudson Global Resourcing, as well as Vodafone and CSC Computer Sciences in Australia.

In 2006 he gained the Certificate in Direct and Digital Marketing from the Institute of Direct Marketing (Cert. IDM)

Laura Linkomies edits the Privacy Laws & Business International and UK Newsletters. Laura also writes about a wide range of legislative and management issues within privacy, data protection and freedom of information.

Laura first joined Privacy Laws & Business as Associate Editor in 1997. In addition to editing the International newsletter, she edited a series of Compliance Guides on the UK Data Protection Act, and helped to launched the UK newsletter before taking a career break in 2001-2002.

Before joining Privacy Laws & Business, she worked at the UK Information Commissioner's Office as a European Secretariat Officer facilitating co-operation with European Union national Data Protection Commissioners.

Laura holds a Masters degree in Political Science and Journalism. Her main working languages are English and Finnish, and she also conducts research and interviews in Swedish, German and Italian.

Professor Graham Greenleaf is PL&B’s Asia-Pacific Editor, writes regularly for PL&B's International Newsletter and was a speaker at PL&B's International Conference in Cambridge in 1991 and 2005.

Graham is a Professor of Law at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Co-Director of both the Cyberspace Law & Policy Centre and the Australasian Legal information Institute (AustLII). He has been involved in privacy policy and research since the 1970s, when he worked for the world's third permanent privacy body, the NSW Privacy Committee. Since then he has at various times held positions with the Australian Privacy Foundation, Australian Privacy Commissioner and (currently) as convener of the Asia-Pacific Privacy Charter Council. He has provide advice on adequacy assessment to the European Commission, and is invited regularly to speak at international conferences, particularly in relation to APEC and privacy in Asia-Pacific countries. He founded Privacy Law & Policy Reporter in 1994 and is its General Editor. For 2006-08 he heads a research project on comparative interpretation of privacy principles funded by the Australian Research Council. He teaches privacy law in Australia and Hong Kong.

Valerie is a qualified solicitor and throughout her legal career has specialised in data protection matters as well as IT and intellectual property law. Having qualified as a solicitor at Clifford Chance, the London based international law firm, Valerie went on to work in the in-house legal department of the Royal Mail Group plc where she was the principal data protection adviser.

Valerie now works with Privacy Laws & Business in a wide range of roles:

1. as a consultant advising large and small businesses in the public and private sector on data protection compliance - she advises on all aspects of data protection and freedom of information, including data related projects, internal business policies and procedures and advising on proposed new legislation
2. speaking at conferences
3. providing training
4. as a contributing editor to the Privacy Laws & Business UK newsletter
5. is available for assignments working in-house to cover for staff absences
6. and is one of Privacy Laws & Business’s Helpline team.
   
   

Stuart Lynch provides training and consultancy in data protection, information privacy, and Freedom of Information.  He holds the British Computer Society’s ISEB Certificates in Data Protection and Freedom of Information, for both of which he is an accredited course tutor.

He was formerly Principal Compliance and Data Protection Officer for Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council for over 10 years.  One of his specialist areas concerns the data protection/human rights issues around the sharing of personal data between public authorities, and he contributed to the Lord Chancellor’s Department’s Development of Data Sharing Protocols Sub-Group.

He has provided training and consultancy services in Data Protection and Freedom of Information for a wide variety of public and private sector organisations, including government departments, local authorities, the NHS, charities, and academic institutions.

He has given presentations at many national seminars and conferences, including:

• Privacy Laws & Business International Conference in Cambridge, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
• NADPO National Conference
• Data Protection Forum

He was a member of the Improvement and Development Agency (I&DeA) Rights in Data Working Group, for whom he developed a General Information Sharing Protocol for use by local authorities and other public sector organisations.  He is currently Deputy Chairman of the Data Protection Forum, of which he was a founder member.

Adèle’s career started with a degree in Dental Hygiene from Guys Dental School, London. She later returned to university and gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from The University of Westminster, London. This gave Adèle the opportunity to combine her clinical work with, marketing, product development, public relations and market research with several of the market leaders in oral health products, such as Philips, Colgate and Kerr Hawe.

Adèle has also worked with her professional organisation organising conferences, attracting sponsorship, researching and supporting speakers and networking.

Adèle is working with Privacy Laws & Business, planning and organising Privacy Officers Network (PON) meetings. This role involves liaising with members and prospects, Data Protection Authorities, host companies, and marketing partners. She is also working with members to develop future strategies.

Eugene Oscapella completed undergraduate studies in economics at the University of Toronto in 1974 and received his bachelor of laws degree from the University of Ottawa in 1977. He obtained his Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1979. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1980. From 1980 to 1981, Eugene served as a commission counsel with the McDonald Commission of Inquiry into the RCMP. From 1982 to 1985, he was Director of Legislation and Law Reform for the Canadian Bar Association.

Since 1985, Eugene has been an independent adviser on Canadian legislative and social policy issues. For the past 20 years he has also advised the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and other organisations on a broad range of privacy issues, including those relating to biotechnology. He is the author of the Commission's 1989 study on AIDS and privacy, its 1990 study on drug testing and privacy, and its 1992 study on genetic testing and privacy.

Eugene Oscapella was associated with the Law Reform Commission of Canada over a 14 year period, and sat on an advisory board of the Ontario Law Reform Commission when it prepared its study on drug testing. He lectures widely in Canada and abroad on privacy and drug policy issues and also lectures in criminology at the University of Ottawa. He is a founding member of the Canadian Foundation for Drug Policy. Since January 2000 he has been a regular contributor to the International edition of Privacy Laws & Business Newsletter, and also offers consultanting services on a wide range of client projects.
