Stuart Lynch provides training and consultancy in data protection, information privacy, and Freedom of Information. He holds the British Computer Society’s ISEB Certificates in Data Protection and Freedom of Information, for both of which he is an accredited course tutor.
He was formerly Principal Compliance and Data Protection Officer for Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council for over 10 years. One of his specialist areas concerns the data protection/human rights issues around the sharing of personal data between public authorities, and he contributed to the Lord Chancellor’s Department’s Development of Data Sharing Protocols Sub-Group.
He has provided training and consultancy services in Data Protection and Freedom of Information for a wide variety of public and private sector organisations, including government departments, local authorities, the NHS, charities, and academic institutions.
He has given presentations at many national seminars and conferences, including:
- I&DeA National e-Government Conference
- Privacy Laws & Business International Conference in Cambridge, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
- NADPO National Conference
- Data Protection Forum
He was a member of the Improvement and Development Agency (I&DeA) Rights in Data Working Group, for whom he developed a General Information Sharing Protocol for use by local authorities and other public sector organisations. He is currently Deputy Chairman of the Data Protection Forum, of which he was a founder member.
